Hilo’s Chris “The Maverick” Cisneros fights Washington’s Tyler “The Mauler” Macguire in the main event at Just Scrap on Friday at Hilo Civic Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the mixed martial arts fights start at 7 p.m.
Keenin Cohen battles Ricky Ing for the 125-pound title, Avery Sanchis fights Lanai’s Keaka Tamsing for the 170 belt and Petey “The Vato” Vital takes on Kauai’s Stenton Boiser for the 145 title, and Federico Vento fights Maui’s Brandon Ness for the 125 amateur belt.
Also, Hilo High senior Wela Mamone will make his MMA amateur debut. Kona’s Van Oscar Penovaroff fights Washington’s Jordan Mackin.
Presale tickets are $20 for general and $30 for cageside on a first-come basis. Tickets are available at CD Wizard and Employment Experts in Hilo and Kona.
Nobu Yamauchi Memorial tourney
The 15th Annual Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 12, at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course with a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
Entry fee is $125, which includes green fee, cart, par three closest to the hole, team prizes, and lunch at Kim’s at Hilo Muni.
Funds raised will be used for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI organization and partial scholarship for RBI players who will be attending college. Male and female scholarships will be awarded.
The grand prize this year will be awarded to the low net team that finishes in 15th place. Other prizes awarded will behotel stays at the California Hotel and Casino, Kahala Hotel and Resort ocean view room valued at $955, Grand Wailea Hotel and Resort valued at $699, golf equipment, complimentary golf, restaurant certificates, and much more.

Hawaii Storm basketball clinic
The Hawaii Storm Summer Basketball Clinic, open for boys and girls grades 1-12, will be held on June 17-18 at the Panaewa Play Court facility from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Registration is $75 per player and each player registering by June 2 will receive a Hawaii Storm T-shirt.
The Hawaii Storm clinic is run by Mike Taylor, a former Punahou coach. Taylor won seven state championships at Punahou and was named state coach of the year five times.

Hoops camp in Waimea
A basketball camp will be held June 2-4 at Waimea District Park featuring Linda Frohlich, a former WNBA player and a founder of Frohlich Basketball Academy.
The camp is for ages 5-18. Ages 5-10 will go from 9-11 a.m., with clinics for ages 11-18 running from 12:30-4 p.m.
The registration fee is $60.

Volleyball clinic May 14
A volleyball clinic will be held May 14 at Panaewa gym featuring UH-Hilo volleyball coach Gene Krieger, Maryknoll girls volleyball coach Luis Ramirez and Poli Olevao-Kahapea, head director and coach of A Mother’s Prayer Foundation.
According to a release, the clinic will include fundamentals and technique such as bumping, setting, defense, spiking and serving.
The first session runs 9-11 a.m., lunch is noon-2 p.m. and the second session runs noon-2 p.m.
Each session is $100 per session.

Water polo, swim lessons at Kamehameha
Swimming and water polo lessons will be held in June and July at Kamehameha’s Naeole Pool, with proceeds benefiting the Warriors’ water polo team.
The session dates are June 5-16 (10 classes), June 19-30 (10 classes) and July 3-14 (nine classes), and the fee is $60.

College prep hoops camp
Hawaii Island Hoops will hold its annual College Prep Hoops Camp at Kealakehe High School June 19-23.
The overnight camp, led by director Andy Smith, is focused on helping student-athletes improve their skills, while introducing them to a college-style program, workouts and training, according to a release.
College coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and junior college level will be attending the camp, which isis $350 for the week.
Daily meals will be included in the fee, as well as daily seminars on financial aid and athletic recruitment.
There will also be a Hapuna Beach trip.
